The Great Male-Female Debate

My BadAss Betch Squad Partner-in-Crime, Sarah, has been on a tear about the inequality between men and women.

Truthfully, this is a very uncomfortable place for me since Sarah is the level-headed one between us. Also, I’m not used to being the voice of reason.

“Seriously, Sarah, it’s going to be okay. We are getting closer to achieving equal pay with men. We have a woman Vice President for Pete’s Sake! So come away from the ledge!” I urged (I may have misconstrued her level of hysteria for my satisfaction since this never happens).

She replied, “Why is it that men who carry nothing get fifty pockets in their pants? Women who have a million things to carry rarely have adequate pockets! And DO NOT get me started about pockets in dresses!”

She had me at "pockets in dresses."

My daughter is part of Gen Z, and she will buy a dress she hates if it has pockets. She once found a Homecoming dress with pockets, and if it had been four million dollars, we still would have purchased it.

I began to see Sarah’s plight in a whole new light.

There will never be true equality until women’s clothes have the same number of pockets that men’s clothes do. That or men are going to be required to carry purses moving forward.

What’s it going to be, World?
